Melissa Destree, AIA, IIDA
Principal Architect, Interior Designer
Melissa earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree in 1992 as well as a Master of Architecture in 1994 from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee. She then joined the Madison offices of Flad & Associates as an intern architect in 1994-1998. She developed a keen ability to work with large multidiscipline teams on intricate research and development projects, residential projects and health care related projects. In 1998, after completing her internship, she took a position at Kahler Slater Architects, focusing on corporate interiors and healthcare related projects.
In 2000, she received her architectural license from the State of Wisconsin. That same year she began Destree Design Architects in Madison, WI specializing in Architecture and Interior Design for corporate, retail and hospitality clients. Destree’s work has been featured in Madison Magazine, Signature Kitchens & Baths, Architect, Money Magazine, Wisconsin Builder, and the Wisconsin State Journal.
Tyler Smith, AIA
Architect/Designer
Tyler earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Minnesota in 2005, with a minor in Business Management. He then joined Destree Design Architects and has successfully led dozens of projects including multiple City of Madison projects, Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sonic Foundry, Fromagination and WinterSilks. He has an excellent balance of technical and design management expertise. His project, Eager Economy Building Renovation, Evansville, WI won the 2009 Madison Trust for Historic Preservation – Rehabilitation Award.
Jeremy Cynkar, Assoc AIA
Project Lead
Jeremy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee in 1999. His internship experience was with a large architecture/ engineering firm in southern Wisconsin, where he developed extensive knowledge with code compliance, project coordination and construction administration on a wide variety of large-scale commercial projects. Searching to develop his professional expertise in residential design and commercial projects, Jeremy joined Destree Design Architects in October 2004. He has led award winning projects including Samba Brazilian Grille, Bonfyre American Grille and The Coopers Tavern.
Richard Dolezal
Architectural CAD Coordination and Support Services
Richard earned a Specialized Associate of Science Degree in Architecture and Design at Northwest Technical Institute, Eagan, MN, in 1995. He has broad experience in AutoCAD and Architectural Desktop including training and support of staff. He installs and tests hardware and software systems and offers technical support for any computer program to end users. He has over 13 years experience as a drafter in commercial and residential drafting and construction. Experience includes creating and developing high quality design drawings from the schematic phase through construction documents.
Anna Gimmer
Interior Designer, Assoc. IIDA
Anna earned her degree in Interior Design at the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2010. Although relatively new to the field, Anna’s energy and talent are reflected in her work. She brings a fresh energy and current perspective to our team with a well-versed range of styles from traditional to eclectic. Anna is working toward her LEED certification and is passionate about green design. She strives to capture clients individual tastes while creating functional spaces and respecting budget limitations.
Toby Latimer
Graphic Designer/Office Administration
Toby attended UW Madison studying Art and Education and was awarded an Associate Degree in Graphic Design from MATC, Madison, WI. She has experience as a Graphic Designer for over six years, managing a variety of small businesses including her own coffee shop business for three years. Toby is responsible for business services, office management, human resources and project accounting. She also organizes and maintains the Materials Library, designs Destree Design Architects‘advertising and marketing pieces and assists with clients’ graphic needs.
